OUGD505 FINAL EVALUATION.

What skills have You developed throughout this module and how effectively do you think you have applied them?
I have developed analytic skills. I have learned how to do lists. And I have grown as a designer and a person in understanding what design pathways I want to take and what approaches I like or dislike the most. I have learned many typography skills and grid and layout in Phil's sessions and I really enjoyed them a lot. I learned not to ask 'loaded questions' and how to get feedback that would be useful for the development. I have realized that I have to make a 'STOP' point in order to have things done. I get driven by the idea so much that I never start it off on time and continue on developing it. I have already learned the pressure is the best drive for work. I have learned how to develop a concept and apply it to the designs trough a range of products.

What strengths can you identify in your work and how have/will you capitalise on them?
Decision making has not been an easy one for me. I have changed the theme of my project more than 3 times. And got lost in the process many times. I have realized that logo design is not as bad as I thought and I really enjoyed developing a event identity trough conceptual thinking. I enjoyed analyzing and helping other people to improve on their concepts. And I realized that if I put my head into it I can have a lot of work done. I am going to improve upon these skills and hopefully develop them further to my professional practice.I hope in the future I might improve on this and not make the same mistakes that I did this year. I will need to develop my time management and priorities the work. I have only learned to work on more than one project at the very end of the year so hopefully next year I will be better at it. I have not performed my best at the sessions and I think I need to reflect on it and improve and participate more in the session. I think one of the reasons for it was the workload (that I took upon myself with regards to briefs outside the course). In the future I will prioritize the work for deadlines rather than outside briefs I will need to learn to time-manage and plan my projects for the third year by really limiting myself and thinking inside the frame. I realize that my project would have been stronger if I would have attended all the sessions and developed on my concepts more.I could have tried more of the processes and experimented more throughout the module. I think I limited myself and struggled with this module with over-thinking reasons and maybe moving further too fast not on the right time.

Identify five things that you will do differently next time and what do you expect to gain from doing these?
1. Time-manage and prioritize the module deadlines. I would gain better project solutions and better outcomes in a less stressed environment.
2. LISTEN AND ASK FOR HELP. That might have prevented the conflicts and miss understandings that I had trough the year. It might have also improved my relationships with the course tutors rather than me being stubborn and refusing the help that the tutors were offering and also being less of a problem to them as well. I do understand now that my actions were immature and naive. I will not do that next year (promise)
3. Meet deadlines in a way more organised way that I had last year and absolutely lost it this year by creating an even more chaos in my life.
4. Use all the possible college facilities that would help me to experiment more and develop my designs and outcomes.
5. Believe in myself more and not doubt as much. This whole year I struggled with my own design practice and  doubted my work and myself as a designer in general. At least I know that now and I know where I want to go and what i want to do and I will need the third year to re-build my own confidence as a designer and as a creative and prove not only to the tutors that I can handle the work but to myself as well. That will help me to step out to the industry as a confident designer with all the right skill set.

'MUNNY' DOLL EVOLUTION

THE EXAMPLE. RESEARCH

Because I would be doing this trough a range of different languages I decided that I should show at least one example.
I chose Russian because I could actually find people that would help me out with translations. I only managed to do a hand bracelet for the event.

I realized that you should never trust Google translate because after I did the bracelet my friend e-mailed and she's a native Russian speaker, she told me that the most correct translation would be  "член "опознать"
So probably in order to actually succeed in this event I would need a team of either copywriters or designers from that particular country.(or translators)

I also Facebook my friend from Russia asking for help because I know he worked in the creative industry in Russia and has been a creative director in many different Russian companies and I thought he would be just a guy to ask for the creative links from Russia.

that's my message to him

that;s his reply.

These are the links he send me:

1. of course a lot of russian designer are on Behance, best way to communicate with them. Russian analogies died too fast to become a good one. here is one
http://www.inspireme.ru/

Also you can check this resources:
http://kak.ru/ (this is magazine, but they made web-site, which is very popular among graphic designers)

http://w-o-s.ru/ (its more news portal, but a lot of artists are reading it every day, because they present information in a modern way)
probably my favorite
http://www.lookatme.ru/mag/art-design (web-site is more about fashion, one of hipsters favorite resource)

2. I guess websites above have applications. Don't know specific one, also very fresh here in Russia, more reading foreign resources
3. http://kak.ru/magazine/ - the best as magazine. Thick and published every month. You can find PDF version below, but only for old issues ((((

Also there are a good magazine, not for designers, but a really good one. Got awards as a best design magazine a lot of times

More links, that might be helpful
