I took the 'Campaign' newspaper, at the beginning I didn't even think that it's a clever newspaper. The grid is really clean and neat. Tho I was really surprised to find that one page has 18 columns. I also asked Lorenzo for another pika/point size measure ruler because I lost mine. I tracked the grid and than looked at all the point sizes.
Than I cut all the different fonts and arranged them by point size in hierarchy.
Than I measured the point size to be accurate and it seems the eye can be mistaking. I'm also planing to digitalise the grid and put it up on blogger, tho I don't think I would re-design the newspaper, because it's pretty good, maybe a bit boring in a way that it repeats the same sequences over and over again throughout the whole newspaper.
Magazine, grid and hierarchy:
I must say this magazines grid is something I will never get. I tried looking at all different pages, but I still couldn't get it.
Looked at the point sized on the page where I traced the grid.
Than chose two different pages and cut out all the different fonts. Put them together how I think they should go and than measured the point sizes. (I was a bit inaccurate)
The posters:
I thought it's useless cutting out the type because some of them have loads of different, some only one or two different point sizes.
1. The on that I think is the best. It has two different point sizes and is clear and simple. Modernist style.
2. I wasn't too sure which one should I rank as the second best but I chose this one. I don't really like this style, but I think even tho it has 43 different type faces tho in the same point size, it still suits with the layout and is an example of post-modernis design.
3. This is the last on my list. I don't like the style, there are way 5 different typefaces that don't even suit each other. It's unclear, the leading is awful and too cramped.
